I'm in the same boat, and I have 35" tires.

I'm thinking a set of factory 4.10s would probably be just fine?

From a shop I have bought my wheels from in MA, I was told it would be about a grand for the gears and intallation. He is priced a little high, but I think it is somewhere between 800-1,000.

Labor should be around $300 per axle.

I asked 4 wheel Parts in SoCal and Off Road Evolution and they only offer 4:88, 5:13 and soon 4:56. Price out the door (installed, parts and labor) was 1243.40.

If you can get gears with install for a $1K thats a great deal! If you can get gears and install for less than that it's a steal!

410s suck if you have an auto trans.

I paid $790 labor from my local dealer and $659 for the gears/overhaul package from Northridge 4x4 - so just shy of $1500 total.

x2. I just came back from a trip to Moab, and going from San Diego (which is at sea level) to Moab I had to travel over a couple of mountain ranges which I believe were around 4500-6000ft. It was hell going up hill; I had to keep on switching from 6th to 5th and back again. In 6th, the speed would drop off pretty steadily, even with the pedal on the floor. In 5th, the rpms would rise sky high.

Also, I have a manual Rubicon with the 4.10 gears and 35's, and I am soon going to be installing 5.13's.
