Default ReGear Question.

Hi All, Newbie Question. I have an '07 JK 6speed manual ,Dana 30 up front & 44 rear with 3.21gears. I am going with either 35" or 37" tires. I am going with 5.13 gears and auto lockers. Will I need to change my Carriers?

Would appreciate any help I can get on making this go as smooth as possible...

your new gears should mount right on the lockers. You may want to check with what ever lockers your going with and make sure that the ring gear can be mounted on the locker. But most will work with each other.

I've seen on here that it's not recommended to go more than 4.88's in a d30. I believe it was WOL that advised that.

first off, if you're really planning to run 37's, i would strongly recommend AGAINST running 5.13's and i would also strongly recommend against installing a locker up front. doing so is just asking for all kinds of trouble. but, if you're determined to do so anyway and plan on installing an auto locker, yeah, a new carrier would be needed.

If not 5.13 what way would be best to go? Different gears or stay with 35's. and then what gears.

x2 on the 4.88 gears on the Dana 30. Also if you don't reinforce the Dana 30 running anything bigger than 35's is asking for problems. If you want a locker up front I would suggest going with an ARB, Detroit E-locker, or an OX locker so that you can engauge it when you need it. Or if you go with a full time locker I would suggest going with a hub conversion. I've known a lot of friends that have bent Dana 30's with 35's with out a locker up front. Also if you plan on beefing up the Dana 30, I would suggest saving your money and getting a Pro Rock 44, because after all thats said and done even if you sleve it and truss it you still have a Dana 30.

I agree a ProRock 44 would be the Ultimate end But for now I want to beef up the Dana 30 To be able to take on more than a speed bump. My foots not that heavy and I haven't got an LS powerplant. All suggestions are very welcome and appreciated. I would like to run 37's but if that has to wait then so be it. I want to make the most out of what I have and hope skill and finness will get me up the HILL.

I have seen Wayoflife say it many time's . You should at least weid up your C's . It is the weakest part of the D30/D44. You really don't have to sleave it.
