I want to Regear my 6 speed JK from 3.21 probably to 4.56 or maybe 4.88. I am running 35s which are measured around 34". I have a Dana 30 front axle and Dana 44 rear. Do I need to change front and rear carrier or only the front carrier? Sorry if I am asking thinks already mentioned but this kind of work (regearing) here is considered very expertise and I want to have a clear opinion.

I got a lot of help today from people about gears cause I'm changing them out myself but if you do have 3.21 you will prob have to change them out if you upgrade not sure if it's before 5.13 or not. But based on the gear chart on this site and what everyone recommended me and all you be good 4.56 if daily driver if you want more power then go 4.88. And also learned should get c gussets and lockers and sleeves for it too which I purchased just now the c gussets and sleeves for only 170.

Since you have 3.21's, you will need a new carrier for the D30. Your current d44 carrier is fine. Most people on here will recommend 4.88's for a 6spd with 35's. If you don't do a lot of 70+ freeway driving, you could even consider 5.13's.

(auto's and 6spd's have different gearing needs, so be sure to take that into account when reading replies.)

So you are saying that I only need to chance my front carrier. And probably I will go with 4.88s. I think 5.13 is way too low. If I want to travel with 80 mph in 6th gear I will hit 3300 rpms. Isn't it abit too high rpms?

Both gear sets need to match. If you change the rear gears, you have to change the front too.

Two sets of gears
Two master install kits
D30 carrier for 3.73 and higher gears (or a full case locker)

For the engine? No.
For gas mileage? Probably.

I would recommend the c gussets and sleeves, and both front and rear gearsets must match......and 5.13's seem a bit to low for 35's if you are using this on the street....esp with the 6 speed

Considering you have 35t's, you should be around a 4" lift. I'd go with 4:88 gears.. Good luck!

If u regulary go 80 mph then dont get 5.13s. Go with 4.88, even then ur rpms are going to be 3000 which the JK can handle no problem but ur gas mileage will be around 10 mpg. I dont know why anyone would drive a JK 80 mph but thats for another thread I guess. I have 4.88s and 6 speed with 34 inch tires and like it alot. I dont ever go over 70 though and usually run 65 on highway and 60 as top speed on two lane roads.
