Regearing.. Help!
Looking at a shop nearby to do the re-gear for me but I just wanna know what im getting into before I go and talk to them. I have a 6 spd '08 Sahara Unlimited with just under 35 000 kilometres on it, cant find anything on build sheets or anything but im pretty sure I have 3.21's (no tow package). From what i've been able to gather im going to need a new carrier in the front but not in the back? Aside from new r&p's what else do I need? Overhaul kits? or Install kits?
at the dealer they could run your vin and tell you.
i thought all sahara models had the 3.73s if they were a stick
the other option is to jack the rear off the ground and spin the driveshaft with your hand and see how many rotations it takes to make the tire spin one revolution.......a little over 3 means 3.21 almost 4 means 3.73

-Overhaul kit (install kit w/ bearings) isn't necessary but sometimes certain shops will require you to purchase this because the original bearings can get damaged on removal.
A build sheet with VIN # is the best....this link also helps..

I was thinking more along the lines of 4.56's but apparently those are hard to come by, i''ll get 4.88's if I have to but I hate the thought of running such high rpm's on the highway. I'm only running 33" duratracs and have no plans to go bigger so 4.56 would probably be better suited for me, when I get a final cost on everything i'll let you know. No doubt i'm gonna run into some added costs because of the LSD and needing a new front carrier and god knows what else, I wish 3.73's had been standard on all jeeps lol.
