Regearing question
Ok everyone I am new to the whole gear thing so I need some help. I have a 2011 rubicon and am currently running 35's, I'm looking to regear to 513 but what all do I need to get besides just the ring and pinion gears? What brands do you recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All JK 5.13's are still being imported, compare price and warranty and get what you like.
With a new, low mileage jeep, you might be able to get away with using Install kits, but you would be better off paying a bit more and get Master Install/Overhaul kits, as they include new bearings. Your installer should have extra seals on hand just in case.
You should also talk to your installer to get their opinion on supplied parts vs buying through them.

+1 Most mods you can do/figure out yourself. This is the one mod that is worth paying for.

I don't know why everyone is afraid of gears. I have done a ton of reading and it seems tedious but if you take your time it seems doable by a handy wrencher. I have not done my gears yet funds but plan on giving it a go. Maybe after I try them I will change my mind.

it is not for the casual wrencher!! I agree that the fun of a jeep is doing things yourself.... like I said earlier...i did my on lift...bumpers...on board air.. and much more.... this is not one... I wouldnt even let most mechanics do it unless they have regeard several jks...not even just other gears... I want someone who has done jks

Dude dont do it. Sure fire way of ruining both rears. Pay to have done. I run superior gears with superior rebuild kits. With a manual I recommend 4.88s with a auto I would say 5.13s.

I just put 315/70/17 Duratrac's on my 2010 rubi with 4:10's and it drives fantastic. I don't notice any lower performance than I had with the stock rubi tires! I did use the AEV procal to make adjustments and i am completely happy with the results and do not see any reason to regear at this time.

Anyone knows a good shop in the New York/New Jersey area where I can take my Jeep to get 5:13 installed?
I was going to let my uncle do it, but the more I read, the more I'm inclined to pay a proffessional.
