Default Removing Driver Side Mirror from Full Doors

Has anyone removed the driver side mirror from the full door? I relocated my mirror so I could drive with the doors off, and the mirror on the door interfered with the new one, so I removed it at the vertical post. Now I have a the horizontal mount that mounts to the door left, and I want to get rid of it. Is there any part out there that I can mount in place of the mirror mount to fill the hole, and give it a more finished look?

From everything I've seen on here (JK-Forums), people are taking plastic or sheet metal/aluminum and fabbing up round circles and painting them. I haven't seen any actual part you can buy so far... maybe someone else has

Default Cheap quick fix

I went to Wal-Mart and bought the adhesive backed thin foam rubber found in the crafts section. It sticks really well, is waterproof, and cuts into any shape easily. Then you can remove it in the winter, my mirrors are going back on when the hardtop goes back on. It costs about 70 cents. It doesn't look bad in black. You just trace the bottom of a big can with an x-acto knife or razor to get the shape!

I am looking for something that will generally be permanent, and will not leave holes on the inside of the door. Any suggestions, anyone?

Just saw the question. Thanks Ruskin for answering for me. It is really easy to do, just use adhesive mildew-resistant caulk, just in case there is a hole in the circle and water gets in.

wow zoomzoommjr, that looks really good, I've never seen that thread. Another product to consider are magnets. A magnet thin and big enough to lay somewhat flush with the door, if the magnet is strong enough you could probably back it with a thin felt if you were afraid of stratching paint. I haven't tried this....just an idea. My thought behind magnets is easy removal with nothing left behind on the door.

zoomzoomjr, that's a really sharp looking mod. thanks for all your replies. I am assuming that with this mod, the bolt holes on the inside are just left?

Yes. I was thinking about covering them, then i realized that when the door is shut, they are hidden by the dash. And if I ever decide to take time to cover them, I might use some light colored masking tape that is painted to match.
