Default Removing Teraflex bumpstop extension

Hi, this might be a shot in the dark, but I installed front Teraflex bumpstop extensions (the ones that go in the top of the spring perch not on the bottom) along with OME HD springs. However it seems the extensions are a bit too long and are limiting my flex. I tried to pull one out but it seems they're stuck in their really good and I honestly couldn't pull hard enough to get it out. Has anyone needed to remove these and if so how did you do it. Thanks

Might do if no one else has an answer. I've thought about just pulling the stock bumpstops out of the Teraflex extensions to give another inch or so but the Teraflex extensions are solid with no compression like the stock bumpstops. Thought it could result in a pretty abrupt stop if I compressed enough to hit them hard.

Do you care if you ruin them?

You should be able to take a sawsall, cut the extension just below the metal section, then you should be able to pry the small section out.

If you don't want to ruin them try jacking up your axle one side at a time (to stuff the tires a bit), wrap a nylon rope around the bumpstop and your axle (get the rope good and tight). Drop the axle down to the ground and the force of the springs should give a good amount of pull on the bumpstop. If not enough force you should be able to lift on the JK either with a jack or by hand to give it that little bit more pull.

Sorry, that is all I could come up with.

Hmm, that second option sounds like a good idea, I think I'll try that. I don't really care if I ruin them, I thought about cutting them but I didn't know if I'd even be able to get the leftover piece out. Thanks for the help.

I jammed a prybar in to the bumpstop cup and pried one side down enough to where I could pull it out with my hand.(it takes some force, but can be done).

To take the extensions out, pull sideways. Grab from the side, place your feet in the wheelwell, and pull horizontally. They will pop right out.

It will give more flex, but over-compression of your coils might be an issue if you remove the extended stops.

Here are my OME HD's with stock bumpstops...

And with a 2" lower

I think the upper extensions give more than 2" though. I'm not looking at them right now but I would say they give upwards of 3". I don't want to go back to stock bumpstops but I think I've got to go to the lower extensions like in the above picture.

Both of these shots have the spring entirely too overcompressed.

You can remove the bumpstops by using a prybar or long screwdriver and pushing the bumpstop to the side with leverage until it pops out.
