Question Replacement Steering Box

Is there anyone who makes a good replacement steering box for the jeep JK? I think mine is on the brink of falling appart.

I know there is the PSC Hydro assist system but thats far to expensive for me.. and the PSC steering box is 900$ plus tax and i think it only works with the complete system.

What are my options?

Redneck Ram, somewhere in Texas. Haven't looked into it much, but I believe they will rebuild your stock box, adding some power assistance. If you send your box, you'll be down for a while, pretty sure I read that they have boxes onsite and you can do a pay & swap kinda deal also.

Psc will rebuild and setup your stock box for the assist system for $300... They also have a one day turn around so u won't be down too long.So down the road when ur ready for it u just need the other components. Just went through all this and I went with the full kit and am very very happy!!

Search for posts from, or PM, Hellbound13. He's posted on this topic before.

I live up in canada.. so sending my steering box away is going to be expensive and taxing... i mentioned i cant afford the PSC hydro assist system i know its the best solution but so is a dana 60 axle when talking about axles.. i simply cant afford these options..

so no one makes an aftermarket steering box..

i guess ill order a new one from chrysler and put in an inline cooler and use some decent fluid this time

I noticed there is a lot of play in the shaft that attaches to the pitman arm and after driving 2 other jk's I realized my steering has a ton of slack in it.

These are some of the reasons I figure the box is worn out. I think this damage happened when my fluid was overheating

What about picking up a used cheap one and then having PSC rebuild it for $300? Then just install the new one and sell your old one.
