Default Replacing footman's loop (that plastic looking handle on hood)

Has anyone replaced their footman's loop on the hood with and other kind of handle or metal loop? I recently purchased a mopar jeep bra and used it during the 1 month lovebug season in Florida (those of you in Florida will know what I am talking about). I guess I over tightened the hood strap and the footman loop snapped on one of the corners. I looked them up on line already and they can be replaced for under $20 but after snapping the original one I don't know if I want to put another plastic one back on. I found some stainless ones and chrome ones on line that I guess I could paint black but I figured I would ask first.

Thanks!

That's all i've seen as well. I would assume they made it plastic so we don't distort the hood from strapping something down with too much force.

I found the same one and I guess at that price I might as well look at buying one once a year.
