Default Reprogrammer Question

A friend and I who both have JKs were thinking about maybe goin halves on a reprogrammer (both our speedometers are off right now) but he had read that it gets VIN locked the first time you use it. Is this true for all models and is there any way around it?

It's true for the Superchips. You can only have one programmed vehicle at a single time, but you can put it back to stock and then be free to do another vehicle.

Same with both AEV and Hypertech.

Yeah, you know, like a wrench or screwdriver or any other tool that we might buy.

What these companies are selling is software and the hardware is inconsequential unlike your screwdriver. It is intellectual property and what you are buying is a license to use it on one vehicle. Not any different than Microsoft, Adobe or any other software company.
