Carrier is not tough to open just require pulling two pins as apposed to an integrated or single latch design that is common with most tire carriers. Also because it uses johnny joint the carrier sags when open so you have to pick up on it to line it back up when closing. I'm by no means gripping about this just making an observation, I was well aware the pros and cons of getting this carrier and I have no regrets, Love it.

And because it does use Johnny Joints you have spares on the trail if you need them.

I have never ever ever heard of one breaking can you please send me a link?

These are built to take abuse, designed to carry the load of a 40" tire, run fast trails, hardcore trails at Johnson valley and any trail you can throw at it.

I'm going to come out and say whoever stated they break on tough abuse is full of it.
