Default Rim Question

I'm currently using the stock rubicon 17" wheels with spacers with my 37's . After reading about all the horror stories using spacers. I'm think about getting a new set of wheels. The other issue is with my new poison spider tire carrier,I would have to modify it to use the stock wheel. Question is,what back space to use on an aftermarket wheel?

Thanks for any info!

Are you rubbing anywhere now with spacers and 37's?

The stock rims have a 6.25" BS. Subtract the width of your spacers to get your current 'effective' BS. (if they are 2" spacers: 6.25 - 2.0 = 4.25" effective bs). If you are rubbing, or just want a wider stance, then go lower.

Hello
Nothing is rubbing. I just want to be able to tuck the wheel in enought and not hit with the new wheels.

Thanks

I have extensive experience running 9" width wheels (17, 18, and even 20's) with a 4.5" BS. I'm talking at least 10 different sets!

No rubbing issues whatsoever.

PM the Discount Tire Direct guys and they can give you tried and true professional advice on the right set up for you!

I haven't heard of too many horror stories using Spidertrax Spacers... But for backspacing for a rim, somewhere between 3.75 to 4.5 inches is working on most JK's with 12.5" wide tires. With 5" Backspaced Cragar Steelies, I had a little rubbing on the air dam, but that's easily removed or trimmed.
