rim swaps
I had been running a set of 15" steelies for a long time because they were cheap, I was broke, and the stock steelie set up was horrible. I picked up a set of Rubicon take offs recently because I actually like the look of the stock aluminum rims. I have put a set of spidertrax spacers to push em out to where I like 'em and everthing is good. Except: I had intended to keep my 15" steel rims with their 33 12.50's as a dedicated offroad set because of the better cost of 15" tires, but now with the spacers they sit too wide. The help I would like is anyones experience with a 15" rim that has a similar backspacing as our stock rims so I do not have to remove my spacers everytime I plan on going back to my offroad set. Thanks for the help guys
I had though about that as well, is there a general rule for to wide? or is just a matter of finding that failure point in the components(balljoints etc)?
Stock - 2.5" lift =33s
2.5" - 3.5" lift = 35s
3.5"-5" lift = 37s
5" - up = 37s - up with obvious mods done
I know guys who run 40s with full hydro steering on top of spydertrax and they have had zero problems for years...A lot of people blame their problems on spacers but, I'm not convinced, as long as they are PROPERLY TORQUED, you shouldn't have issues IMO.
I agree on your examples of lift height to tire size.
