Default Ripp Header install question/Skid Plate recommendations???

i installed the Ripp Headers and love the growl and the responsiveness. My only complaint is that it hangs lower than the transmission crossmember. I emailed RIPP and was told that i need to finagle the pipes and it should move into a higher position. However after two attempts i have given up. My only thought now is the headers themselves. Before i take them apart again, is there play in the headers at the engine? i mean some bolts are smaller than the mounting holes which gives a little adjustment there. Has anyone found this in there headers?

My concern is i am unguarded underneath without my heat shield. I can't go into high grass for fear of starting a fire. Any recommendations for skid plates?

I have the rockhard engine skid. I got longer bolts and made extra spacers to get the skid plate lower. I also notched the passenger side lip to get a little extra clearance. This was after trying to get the crossover up higher. It probably isn't the perfect solution but it works.

Im wondering if this is because you have a 2dr. I just bought the long arm long tube headers but I can't install until October!! Gotta hate deployments... Hope you get yours fixed up higer. Did you also get the resinator and tuner? what are you doing about the exhaust, leave the stock on also??

Default I did the whole system

I used Ripps recommendation, MBRP exhaust with the HP2 welded inline. You will definitley want to do so. The rasp was horrible after 3K RPM. Which is where the SC likes to play. Did you get the cats also? If not then the long arm kit doesnt have the same issue, they are routed a little further back. If im not mistaken

I had this issue as well after initial installation - mine hung down about an inch below the trans crossmember. I loosened everything up and was able to push it all up more no problem.

Check out the EVO ProTek skid for protection:

Any particular reason you are reviving threads from two and three years ago?

Yep because I read this thread the other week as well as every other one on this forum and WranglerForum when researching my header prior to purchase as well as installation and after for issues like this. It's a question/problem that other future buyers of these great products will have that I couldn't find an answer to without gambling my $180 to buy and try. It did = it works = now i'm posting it for future reference so the next person can learn. Thanks to Goggle and the fact that these products are still sold years later it really doesn't matter how old the thread is. It's still relevant.

Any particular reason why you're on my nuts about it? If you don't care about the topic = move on.
