Default Ripp headers

Anyone ever Jet-Hot coat their Ripp headers? I think anything to cut down under hood temps would help. Thanks

Ripp if you see this please chime in also.

There is no direct need for this type of service to the header, since their manufactured with some of the highest quality materials. BUT we have seen customers Jet-coat or ceramic coat even heat wrap our headers with pretty good results.

Most customers get so excited once they see the Beautiful craftsmanship can't wait to install em.

What's the quietest muffler you have found while running the headers?

My engine compartment "seems" to be getting super hot since my RIPP supercharger install (I now hate to open the hood after I've been running around a little because the inner safety latch is very hot to the touch).

Would long tube headers exacerbate this issue, or would they help to cool things down under the hood?

The longtube headers like the RIPP actually help pull heat OUT of the cylinder heads through the increase in flow, which is kinda a double benefit. The downside is it can transmit that heat through the header tubing into the engine compartment. I wrapped the primary tubes and collecters on the Kooks longtubes on my '04 Cobra with great results. MUCH cooler underhood temps. Unless you have wires close by the headers It shouldn't be an issue.

I ceramic powder coated (very similar to the Jet-Hot process) my RIPP headers. I can't say how much it helped, don't know of a Jeep with uncoated headers to compare to, but my engine compartment doesn't seem to be any hotter after the header install than it was running the stock exhaust.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know. Who did you use to do your ceramic powder coat?

I used Industrial Coatings, 200 S 5th Street, Kansas City, KS 66101. (you can probably find a local powder coater in your area to do the same for you.) Cost was $250 to media blast, coat inside and out in black ceramic powder coat, and bake. They did a real nice job for me.

Good luck!

Don't know about quietest, but I'm running RIPP's MBRP offroad cat back system with the additional resonator RIPP sells and recomended. It sounds absolutley awesome. When I first heard it after the exhaust work, I thought someone slipped a V8 under the hood. Yup, it sounds that good. Highly recomend that setup.

Thanks. I want to pick these up as they would add good power but avoid the Drone I experienced with a muffler in the past.
