Default Ripp supercharger

I am wondering about the ripp supercharger. Is it really worth all that money? What are the gains you receive? What other mods should go along with it? Is there a snorkel that works with it? How difficult is the install and tuning? Thanks for the feed back

Had Ripp installed in May by 4WP on my 2011 Mojave JK 2door. The tuning needed more than the Diablo that comes with it, so another $100 for the AEV flash tuner. Performance has been good - I do run mid-grade fuel - but last tank was 15.5 mpg which was city and freeway driving in So Cal area. Just had the Boost/Vacuum gauge installed and it really helps to see how much boost and when, I went digital for quick viewing.
It was installed before going to Forest Fest in Big Bear and it performed very well on the climb out of Horsethief. Also attracts attention everywhere we go.
I have also been put back in the seat off-the-line when I wanted to just get in front of someone - very COOL.

Default Forced induction worth it?

You don't say if you have 3.8 or 3.6 so I am assuming 3.8

I dont have the RIPP but do have the sprintex so can give you general forced induction feedback rather than specific RIPP feedback.

Worth it? Depends on what you want... I am at high altitude and some weight and 33's and a 2.5 inch lift so my 2011 was a real dog.

Could I have traded in on a pentastar and gotten same as/better performance along with MUCH better automatic transmission. Sure I could have. Would it have cost more than doing the blower? Debatable when taking install costs etc into account. Probably would have cost more to trade.

Would a trade have been more reliable (I have no problems) in the long term? Probably. Forced induction is beyond the 3.8's design goals and places it under more stress. Power does not come for free.

If I had traded would my Jeep have had as much of "ME" in it? No way and for me that makes it worth it.

If you do lots and lots of highway work then the new auto makes a huge difference. If its a daily along with trails then for me it would be about even. If its trails only then the grunt the Sprintex gives from only about 1200 RPM make the 3.8 really easy to use off road.

So as I said... It depends on what you want.

Now if you have a 3.6 it is a different discussion again...

Do you think that the superchips trail dash2 would be good enough tuner for it

with a 3.6 id just gear it down and enjoy my stock motor.
I had a rip on my 3.8 for 36000 miles. the power was good... but it was a little.. spotty. It felt like I was hammering the 3.8 all the time on the freeway. Eventually I blew a head gasket after a long hot climb up a mountain and swapped in a V8

I have a Ripp on my 3.6, running 5.13's.

The torque is strong, especially when you need it in 4L off road. The gains were better than expected and I've been extremely happy with the results.

You do not need any tuner beyond the Diablo that comes with the kit.

Ripp advised against use with a snorkel, but has options if it's something you want to do.

If you want to drive a 3.8 with the RIPP I am on the south side of Phoenix...your welcome to come up and drive mine.

I do have to agree with one of the other posts. if you gear yours to 4.88, or something in that range, your 3.6 should be plenty.

RIPP really dislikes snorkels. I run one but understand that you are giving up HP for the safety of a snorkel.

When you run a Snorkel you are forcing your Jeep to breath through a straw...try it someday and you will understand.

you know painting an intercooler makes it less efficient right?
