Ripp supercharger questions

The 08 Rubicon Unlimited you have tested on...
Does this have the stock 4.10 gears? What tire size? 35s? I am considering this unit for that set up and want to see how much milage increase can be expected. Want to do a little lifetime fuel cost vs price of unit analysis.
If it really lasts 100K with no engine damage and you can get 5mpg increase it seems like this actually makes money for a self installed unit over the 100K mile lifetime of the vehicle.
Also if it is installed by someone else what is the projected hours for install?
If the kit is removed should there be an engine failure what is modifed that would indicate it was ever installed in the first place other than the battery relocation?
Also how much less power do you get with regualr vs super with the switchable mapping? Is this internally detected or is it something preprogrammed or do you flip a switch or what?
If the unit is compatible with the River Raider snorkle could that be reinstalled back in place to the factory set up to explain away the battery relocation?
Towing is cheap... engine repairs are not. I would not mind having it towed to get the unit removed and then reinstalled after a repair but I am concerned with the ability to add/remove and reinstall. How and where is your elctronics installed?
Sorry for the large number of questions but this is very interesting to me... and I just want to justify the cost.

Several of our Mitsubishi V6 clients have gone over 100k on stock engines… however that doesn’t mean you can’t blow it up…. Like many forum memebers have agreed upon as long as your responsible with it and don’t thrash it all the time it will go a long time… and yes off-set the cost.
We provide 40 pages of color instructions- we installed it in 6 hours but that’s not fair, we know our way around it. We say 8-10hr’s is fair for a first timer.

The hole in the oil pan – you have to install a oil retune fitting.
Our electronics are solder in at the moment we are working on plug and play, its seven wires.
Our electronics come pre-programmed – there is a grey wire which when grounded will switch to the high octane map – if you leave it off it will stay on the 89map – you can install a switch and flip away as needed. You can see as much as 18whp lose because timing is far less aggressive with the low octane map – not to mention how much ethanol their mixing into the gas these days, fuel getting weaker and weaker.
Yes – in fact we recommend you run the snorkel only off road and use it as a fresh air intake for day to day driving, the snorkel is a restriction (albeit a safety precaution off-road) but nonetheless a restriction – its best when used with our kit to use it only when needed, it takes a few moments to switch out the open element and go to our closed unit. Those will be available in about 6 weeks.

No problem we’ve covered these questions before and as our new site goes up we will have a FAQ section for this. Most of these question are in this thread some place – if you dig you can read the same answers…
. But no worries that’s what we’re here for.RIPPTECH
We have shops in Michigan but they are not JK shops, we have an extensive Mitsubishi program we could make that available to you. Or if you have any 4X4 shops that do diesel or truck work you can direct them toward us and we can tech them and set their expectations.
Furthermore the kits really not hard to install and any good mechanic can perform the install.. the kit comes with very detailed instructions and we always offer tech advice and guidance over the phone.

I never got my question answered in a private pm to RIPP, so here it is... I own a Vortech supercharged Mustang and Vortech has a disclaimer for use in cold weather
I think this is a great kit and im in no way trying to bash a product from a suporting vendor, but the public needs to be informed!
With a Mustang obviously I would not drive it in winter but most of us drive the Jeep year round as a daily driver.
This is copied and pasted from the Vortech website...
IMPORTANT COLD WEATHER INFORMATION
In order to achieve the low noise level of Vortech superchargers, Vortech specifies manufacturing procedures that call for minimal internal clearance.
These precise tolerances how ever are not conducive to temperatures below 25° F. Therefore, storing the vehicle in a heated garage and/or employing the use of an engine block heater/aftermarket engine blanket is required when
the vehicle is subjected to a "cold startup" in ambient temperatures below 25° F. Failure to comply with this may result in immediate supercharger failure and invalidate the supercharger warranty.
Obviously i can plug in a blanket or engine block heater at home in a garage but what about when I go to the mall or work when there is no electrical outlet available? I live in Wisconsin where temps drop below 0 for weeks at a time in the winter. Now what?
just food for thought
