Which is the most bang for the buck? Pros/Cons for both?

I'm leaning towards Ripp power. I know having a Hemi is a lot sexier, but for us penny pinchers working with what you got is the way to go...

 

The hemi is the way to go... But the money is ridiculous.. For me personally, RIPP will fulfill my needs. If I ever need a hemi, I'll buy a used dodge ram for the same price almost.

 

I have been wondering this myself. I would love to hear what people who have these mods think.

 

There is no replacement for displacement, PERIOD.

But, it's another $15,000 added to the price of a RIPP supercharger.

So, that's the ONLY con, the price.

 

Would love to hear some input from someone who has driven both. I would also like to know what kind of setup was on the rig they tested. I am guessing that the supercharger is no hemi - and in fact, I believe I have seen a post from the manufacturers of the Ripp that say exactly that. All things considered, though, my guess is that the Ripp still gives enough power to the wrangler to make it as enjoyable as you need it to be, and is going to give you a lot more bang for your buck.

Hemi is crazy expensive, is a MAJOR modification, adds some serious weight to your vehicle, and is somewhat of a warranty voiding procedure The Ripp is a bolt on mod (that can just as easily be taken off, btw). For the purpose of emissions testing, if you live in a state that does that, the Ripp can be removed from the system just by slipping the serpentine belt off the supercharger pullys.

Oh...and the Ripp can actually IMPROVE gas milage.

The way I figure it, the pricepoint of the Ripp is what makes it a major winner. You get enough of a boost in power that you can get a lot more enjoyment out of the wrangler, and still have cash left over to get regearing, lift, wheels, bumpers, etc, all for less than JUST the hemi swap.

Now, if you are also running a jeep with D60's, 40+" tires, and hauling a lot of stuff, maybe you really DO need a hemi. Of course, this accounts for a minority of people, even around here. Then again, maybe someone out there is running a Ripp under those circumstances, and is still doing fine.

Seems to me that the Ripp is the winner for the average Jeep owner out there. But hey, if you have the cash just burning a hole in your pocket, by all means, get the Hemi. And come take me for a spin! As for me, though, I plan to get the Ripp.

(Oh, and if someone from Ripp is particularly happy with my response to this thread, they can feel free to offer me a nice little discount! I plan on ordering a little over a year from now. )

 

can the speedo be re-calibrated in conjunction with the Ripp?

 

why would you need to re-cal the speedo??? you wouldn't....

What are the long term effects on the motor from the supercharger?

 

JMHO but...I regeared to 5:38's and added the Superchips tuner set to the 91 octane and the results were VERY impressive!!! Total cost less than $2,000. I do run 35" tires and have an A/T
