Default River Raider Snorkel Q's

I'm thinking about getting a snorkel, looked at the different brands and it seems River raider is the way to go. I searched other threads on this topic and would appreciate any feedback. I have a quiestion, lets says it's raining, light or heavy, whats the chance of the rain entering the snorkel and hydrolocking the engine? Thanks, this will be my first snorkel, so anything;problems I may not think of now, concerns, benefits, whatever, would be really appreciated.

The prefilter on the AEV will not be affected by snow, the ARB suggests that you reverse the ramair in the snow. I don't know what you can do with the RR snorkel in the snow.

RR once made a statement on here that if anyone ever had that problem with the RR snorkel, they would fix it for free.

hey man, I know this wasn't your question, but one thing I like about the AEV is the lack of 90degree turns in the intake. I am still somewhat on the fence myself, and I love the fact that the RR is metal and not plastic. However, on thing I dont like about the RR is the look/design of it. I'm sure you can search to find an under hood pic on here, and I have seen on in real life. The RR just looks bizarre to me in that respect. It enters just behind the fender and makes 2 or 3 ninety degree turns. I just like how the AEV has nice smooth airflow to it. I'm sure the RR is just as good, but it has way to many bends in it IMHO. Also, I hate paying half a grand to extend the height of an intake. IMO get the AEV, and put the air ram on it if you hate the look that much.

07armygreen, that is my concern. I am going to do the dual battery tray that is being designed right now and am waiting to make sure that tubing will work,
I personally like the RR design completly better, with the exception of the tubing to connect to the stock airbox.

I know someone on here actually has aluminum tubing instead of the rubber. I love how so many have talked about the 90turns or the rubber hose, I never noticed any problem with power because of it, but I guess its the paranoia because of the lack of power these 3.8's have. I personally have been thru VERY heavy rain and snow and never had my filter or airbox get wet from it.

I've put mine to good use.

That is an awesome pic. We are in similiar off raod conditions...lol

My post was a little mis-leading, my concern is actually the physical routing of the airbox connecting tubes once I drop the dual battery tray in there. It takes up the space between the stock battery and the TIPM stuff. I thought that is an area where the RR tubing went through. But not sure.
As for the airflow and the water stuff, I have no doubt that the RR snorkel would prove to be one of the best!
