Default RJ 44 has arrived!!!

Got a call from a very confused fedex delivery guy who was bringing me new toys! This thing is amazing. Next few weeks and she should be under the rig. Ordered ARB for rear and will schedule that install soon. Need to place an order today for ball joints. Anyone got a favorite? Im on 33s and will be for awhile.

I did not have luck with Synergy ball joints at all. Finally threw in the towel and bought Dynatracs. Personally, I'd go Dynatrac or Rare Parts, but realize those are both pricey options. If budget does not allow, I'd go with the Teraflex over the Synergy or Alloys. Congrats again on that axle.....enjoy it!

Congrats!! Nice looking axle. As far as ball joints, I have Rare Parts ball joints and really enjoy the piece of mind that comes with them.

When I had the synergy BJs I was on 35's (35x12.5x17 to be exact). I replaced factory BJs with Synergy. They lasted less then a year before one side went bad. Synergy was easy to deal with and replaced under warranty, sending me 4 new BJs. Well, one of the new ones they sent me was bad right out of the box, but I had no choice but to install it at the time. They re-warrantied that set and upon receiving the 3rd set, I made the decision to just get Dynatracs instead. I was looking at doing BJ labor 3 times in less than a year, and I was NOT willing to be looking at a 4th anytime soon.

I had a friend that replaced factories with Rare Parts and was very happy with the product and the company. Since I had installed knurled Synergy BJs, I was under the impression I had to stay knurled. RP didn't offer that option, so I went with the Dynatracs. Come to find out that the Dynatrac knurls are MUCH larger than the Synergy ones, and probably could have installed the non-knurled version and been fine.

If I were starting from scratch, I would prefer to install non-knurled BJs. Once you go knurled, even if they are mild like the Synergy.....There's no telling the results you might have trying a non-knurled in the future. To me, it seems to make most sense to stay non-knurled if possible if for no other reason that you keep all options open in the future.

Just my opinion. Others might disagree.

I replaced a set of knurled Synergy ball joints with a set of Rare Parts. No issues at all!

Rare Parts are the best ball joints available for the JK. Fusion 4x4 has great pricing on them also.

Typically you have to use a knurled ball-joint after having to press the joints out and the mounting hole ends up being enlarged to the point a non-knurled ball-joint won't have a proper press fit. Sometimes it only takes one time uninstalling the ball-joints to enlarge that hole. That's why we designed our heavy-duty ball-joints to be rebuildable without having to removing the ball-joint housing, so it doesn't cause wear on the hole.

Thanks for the info, I like the idea of rebuildable but they are way out of my price range. Typically I subscribe to the buy once cry once mentality, but I've already done that with everyone else. With these I'd rather cry a few smaller times and get rolling now than sit on an axle I can't use waiting to put nice Bjs in it.

Ended up ordering the TF ball joints from Northridge today. Couldn't bring myself to but Oe back in given design and the teraflex seemed to be the next step up in quality of build

Haven't had any troubles with the Tera BJs. Just be careful with the boots. I also haven't figured out how to grease the bottom, but I think that's just a lack of effort on my part. Something to address this spring I guess.
