Unhappy Rock Key...didn't work.

Listed in the Holiday Edition of the Quadratec book. They have these keys listed for the 07's. BUT, its a misprint.

Took my JK down to my dealership to get my ABS recall done, and used my free oil change too. Gave them my Rock key and asked to have it cut and programed. There for about an hour total. While I was waiting this lady was sitting nearby and was talking to a salesman she apparently knew real well. I about spit coffee out and cussed a little under my breath when she goes..."OH I am pretty sure I want a new Wrangler, those are so cute they look just like..." Yeah ya'll can guess this next part, she said the word. "Hummer". Made me mad. I had to get up and walk outside.

But anyway while I was out there I think I have figured out why my dealer had so many freakin' jeeps on the lot. ALL of them were 2 door Saharas or Rubicons. Only had 4 Unlimiteds 3 Saharas and one X. I looked at ALL of these Jeeps and none were optioned very well. Cheapest one was $26,500. I am really glad I ordered now. The service department actually looked a little shocked to see an X roll up.

But anyway back to the key...they came back and said it wouldn't program. But on the bright side I know how much they will charge when I get one that will work. $5 bucks is not as bad as I thought it would be.

So I go home call Quadratec and sure enough its a misprint. So they are sending by the UPS folks to pick it up and refund the 20 bucks my parents spent on me at Xmas. Oh well. The dealership thought it was a really cool key though....I'm kinda bummed I liked it.

I do believe that they are working on one for the 07 - that will be functional. Quadratec was first imformed that the key WOULD work for the 07's but after some instances like yours we discovered it would not. I do apologize for that but sometimes things just happen outside of our control.

Yeah, I always hate that as a consultant (and vendor). I at the mercy of accuracy of the suppliers. I can research and research, but at the end of the day, when I make a recommendation, I have to go with the information I have. Of course, the clout that you have is, if they lie too much or too big, you go with another supplier. Eventually their inaccuracy will catch up with their sales. In the example provided all you can do is what you did, apologize and provide a quick refund.

VENDORS TAKE NOTE. Stuff happens. The quicker you admit that the happier your customer will be. Happy customers become REPEAT customers. UNHAPPY customers become a thorn. A happy customer will tell 5 other people. An unhappy customer will tell everyone he can and then some. (Internet anyone?)

Default No so fast.

Actually, they do work. It looks like you got the wrong one. The correct Rock Key is brown, part number 692960. Check it out:

i found this on a few different sites, I have NO CLUE if it is right or not.
I know these were listed in the quadratec catalog to, i am nearly positive they said beige for us as well....
