rock krawler kit, need help!
so i am over seas and having my 3.5 Rock krawler long arm installed @ 4wp. well i guess its going to be more of a hassle than they thought, hoping you guys and gals can throw in some advice? guys with this kit what did you do?
It’s together for the most part, rock krawler shorted us some hardware and we ordered more from the local hardware place, they are coming in today.. I had to use some temporary bolts to mock the suspension in the rear and flex it up and down to see where to put the bump stops. Also, I quoted you an hour to install these bump stops, but they are definitely going to take more than that to do. Rock Krawler says to cut them down and weld them to the frame, however, if we do that these things will fold and break right off if we do that. The only way to get these to actually work is to hole saw the frame and slide the bump stop inside, and give it more side to side support. To do that I need 1.5 hours a piece, or three hours total to install these things in the back. My guy will set it up right, no doubt, but I need more time for him to do it. At this point, you can tell me if you don’t want to install them and ill take them off the ticket, but youll have the same issue with the shocks.
Also we’re going to need limit straps for the rear. This kit droops out pretty dang far. In fact, so far that the coil spring will pop out if we don’t limit it. So to prevent that, Ill need limit straps and tabs, and an hour to install those.
As for the front. We don’t suspect you will need limit straps right now, but will let you know as soon as we get the chance to flex out the front.
Also your going to need some exhaust work. We need to get the exhaust shop to make a Y-pipe and weld it in, and drill a new hole and bung for your o2 sensor. The instructions state we have to relocate it or your driveshaft smacks up against the pipe, and will bend/break your header flange under compression.
Estimated cost for the exhaust shop to bend and make a Y pipe with o2 bung and weld it in: $185-$200
Estimated raise in cost for the bump stop labor: $160
Estimates cost of limit straps / tabs + labor: $75.00 parts + $80 labor for both sides = $155.00

Rock Krawler would be the ones to answer this but the exhaust re-route is clearly stated on the website. and I don't get the "limit straps". I've read thousands of posts, hundreds of them on lifts and never heard of limit straps. I'm planning on getting a Rock Krawler setup but I'm having them install it. I would just put the install shop in direct contact with Rock Krawler. The additional costs are slightly higher than what RockKrawler quoted me for labor but it should be expected.
Are these the Rock Krawler adjustable bump stops? I am going to order these for mine and just assumed they would fit inside and be welded to the factory mount for the existing bumpstops. As far as limiting straps go why not put in the spring retainers instead?

RK also recommends limiting straps for the 2.5" kit, i need to flex my Jeep out and see how far it actually goes to make sure i'm not going to throw a coil on the trail.
sounds like they want to get you on a couple extra things though.. not sure what you should do there..
