Question rock krawler vs everyone else

I am shopping for a mid arm system in the 4'-6' range for my 4dr JK and find the 5.5 mid arm kit from RK very appealing financially. I have heard everything from poor construction, overseas parts, missing parts/incomplete kits, to absent customer service. does anyone run their kit? does any body have a kit they would recommend?

Default RockKrawler Lift

Hi there,

I run the 3.5 mid arm lift. It is a well built lift. I wheeled it hard a few times and it preformed well. I did bend a sway bar link my first time out. They sent me replacement parts ASAP. My biggest gripe with their lift was poor instructions. They weren't horrible but they were a bit out of sequence. That was last July and I contacted them and told them. They thanked me for the input. As far as the kit goes, It's well built. I think the shocks are a little cheap but they do work well. It drives well on the road and is superb off road. I do get a bit of ESP on exit ramps but I think it's less then most guys that have lifted JK's complain about. Some guys have real bad problems with that. No bump steer and very stable on road. From 0 to 10, I would rate it an 8-9. And I've built many Jeeps and ran most every manufacturers lifts. Knowing what I know now, I would still buy it.

Good luck, Bob Coco

The ESP on ramps seems to be mostly cured by doing a good job centering the steering...you might merely have to re-align the steering and re-tighten it to cure the ESP issues.

I purchased a 6'' LA kit for my XJ from Rockkrawler. I found it was an alright kit, pretty sturdy. My complaints were that the powdercoating was flaking off right out of the box and the instructions were poorly designed.

Other than that, I think it was a OK kit.

This kit is on my short list. So, it would be useful for me to know where you heard those complaints.

My 3.5 mid arm kit should be showing up on my door step any day now. One thing that I noticed after I ordered it was that there is no mention of bump stops, so I will wait until I get it before I order any. I need to put my YJ back together in the next couple of weeks before I start tearing into the JK anyway. Crux, did yours come with bump stops?

For the price it seems like a very complete kit so thats way I bought it and I got Rubicon express/Bilstien shocks for it. There were some complaints a few years ago about pour management and construction but they have new executives now and I haven't heard any more complaints about them as apose to any other company lately.

Are you hearing complaints recently? If so then let me know before I start putting mine together. I searched the net quite a bit before desciding and all I could find were the complaints from a few years ago but nothing bad sents then. I even found some posts on other forums directly from RK(again these are from a few years ago) stating that they were changing some of their part out because of complaints that they were getting and RK was working with those unsatisfied customers.

To answer your ?`s about bump stops, no, it didn`t come with them. I believe RK makes a set, but they (I think) are weldable only. Check their site. My lift rides great, performed very well off road, and thats still not having had a chance to fine tune all the control arms.
