Default Rocker Guards vs. Step Rails

Gents,
I have stock rocker guards on my Rubi and I am wondering if I did a swap for the stock step rails, would they provide the same protection. I know there is better aftermarket stuff out there, but I am on a budget and saving for tires. Thanks for the input.

What about doing something like the Poison Spyder Rico steps?

It looks like it might be a good compromise with strength and cost-effectiveness. (And personally, I think that it looks pretty bad ass to boot!)

I bought the Smittybilt Side Armor right after I got my 4-door. The excuse was my 8-yr old needed a step to get in. It works for that too. I thought the looked pretty cool and the install was pretty easy.

Autoanything.com had the best price plus free shipping (not affiliated).

No not the same protection at all and the steps don't fair well at all off road. You're better off sticking with the Rubi rockers until you can purchase something else like the Off Road Evolution rails or the OR-Fabs rails. There are a ton of other options those are just the two I happen to like. Just my

I haven't seen anyone using these on here, but I am looking to get the whiteknuckle racing slider / steps. Unpainted it is only $350.00 so that doesn't seem too bad.

The price and look is eactly what I am wanting, but I haven't seen any reviews on a jeep to know about strength yet and I am not looking to purchase in January so i can't provide a review yet....
