Default Rocknob causing excess movement rattle?

JK 6-speed 2010 w/ 2500 miles...

Hi all, I just replaced the stock knob with a new Rocknob and put on a new OEM shifter boot. All went pretty smoothly. After a day or so, I noticed a lot of stick shift travel and vibration when in gear, particularly rougher roads - more than what I can remember with the stock knob. Also, I'm hearing the Jeep going in and out of gear now along with a faint rattle sound when in 3rd gear (don't recall either before). Seems to run fine and nothing is grinding when I shift. I researched other posts and found that much of this seems to be a Jeep thing, and also some folks have had trouble with a loose knob cap or boot/bezel. The Rocknob is tight. The boot feels tight. My question - can a heavier aftermarket knob like a Rocknob or Bombnob or billiard ball do damage to the transmission over time as it seems to bounce around more violently than the plastic stock knob? And why the faint shifting clicks and 3rd gear rattle only after switching the knob and boot? Thanks in advance gang - I can happily live with both. Just don't want to do damage or fight with the stealership because they could say the heavy Rocknob caused the damage and that the fix won't be covered by the warranty.

Question 1) Why did you replace the boot after only 2500 mis. If it was torn up you may have a problem.
2) You oviously had both shift knobs in your hand at some point uninstalled, was rock one heavier, if so then you may just be noticing movement/ noise due to added weight on end of stick.

Thanks for the quick response.

Boot was cosmetic damage only due to spilled superglue from a dashboard mod-gone-bad. Ran and shifted like new after the glue spillage so nothing got under the boot - just all over it. For 12 bucks from eBay, figured I'd clean up my mess with a new boot.

Yes, the Rocknob seemed quite a bit heavier than stock knob when both were off. With all the added movement and vibration from the Rocknob's added weight, could it rip something up internally bouncing around like that over time?
