Did a little searching, didn't find an answer. Basically I am planing on building my JKU out for overland, and would want a roof rack capable of supporting a roof top tent for the long haul trips. That being said, I also like to do some local day trips, and, living in the desert, having a bikini top / half doors rather than the hard top / full doors is nice for these light trips. Generally for these trips I would have 2-4 people plus the pup, so interior space fills up quick and I would like to utilize a roof rack to pack supplies.

My question is this: Does a rack, capable of supporting a roof top tent + occupants (say 700lbs min), yet also capable of allowing the hard top to be removed exist?

I like the Gobi, but it is expensive and I haven't yet figured out if I can use this sans top.

My other option would be to custom fab one, but, as this is a rather extensive rack, build time would be a bit lengthy (or rather, time spent in R&D)

I am in no rush for this, but I like to plan ahead, I still need to get my lift / wheels / tires planed, ordered, and installed, but any advice on this would be appreciated.
