Sure, they are expensive but, a BIG bonus of the ProSteer ball joints over OE and ANY OTHER aftermarket ball joints you can get is that they have a different method of operation. OE and ALL other aftermarket ball joints have a bottom joint that pivots and a top joint that allows up and down motion but no pivot. The Dynatrac ProSteer are the ONLY ball joints that have a bottom joint that allows pivot and, a top joint that goes up and down AND pivots. This helps keep the ball joints aligned with each other without binding. Bent end forgings or, axle C's are very common in JKs and, this specific feature of the ProSteer's is a crucial part to ball joint longevity. With OE or any other aftermarket ball joint replacement, you can be sure that you'll have to replace them again sooner than later where as with the ProSteer's, they'll most likely be the last set of ball joints you will ever need.
Agreed, I spent the money and honestly, my steering felt tighter, maybe it was just me. The confidence and knowing that ball joint related DW will never be an issue for me was worth the $ and then some. Dynataracs rep as a solid company that makes great parts in the USA was just another added benefit. This is one of those parts where you'll never see the benefit outright but then again, you ll never worry about failure

I have heard them going bad from 8000 to 50000 miles. Bigger tires, faster wear.

Yes I went with Moog ball joints. They are touted as a heavy duty greasable ball joint. I believe they will last at least twice as long as the factory ball joints. I noticed an immediate improvement after installing them. While I do believe the dyantrac ball joints are better, I simply can not afford the price of the dynatrac ball joints, I am on a very tight budget.

Shortly after installing the ball joints (3 weeks) I had a very quick and sudden death wobble episode. I went out and checked everything and the draglink at the knuckle was shot. I think this was caused by the previous DW issues and replaced it. Since replacing it I have not had anymore DW issues.
