Default Rough Country

Hello Everyone,
I have a 09 Sahara JK unlimited that i'd like to put a lift on. I plan on running 35" W/T package, and I'll be doing 75% / 25%, Highway / street driving. (with the occasional trail on the weekends...silver Lake, Drummond Island, etc.)
I've researched online a ton of lift kits and love the AEV product - however I cannot justify it right now. Instead, The Rough Country 3.25 kit looks good but I wanted to get some opinions from this forum.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to give the RC 4" X-series kit a shot. I'd go with TF, but I need to get it up in the air for less $$$$. This kit comes complete with a full set (top/bottom front & back) adjustable control arms. The 3.25" will need lower front control arms in the very least to correct caster, so you can add that to the cost.

You'll find lift snobs all over that only will by TF, Curry, Clayton or whatever, but if you can't spend $3000 on a full kit, this one looks pretty good.

Search for threads on RC lift kits, there are several threads with opinions from current owners. Based on that you can decided if that is the best lift for you.

There is a recent poll thread of RC vs TF lifts with an overwhelming vote in favor of TF.

Of course TF won! The two aren't even a comparison. The equivelant TF lift to the RC X-Series is like $2500..... I'd go TF too if money weren't an issue. Make that $2412.99 on Northridge.

I understand budgets, but if there is one place you shouldn't go the cheapest route, it's on the suspension/steering systems. They are the foundation of your JK and you will have constant reminders if you make a poor choice.

I'm no newb to Jeeps either (just JK newb), and the RC kit, while not being top grade isn't bad. If I'm hardcore, competition rock crawling, I'll drop $15K on my suspension, but this guy and most of us aren't. I've run TF, Rubicon Express, OME, and even Rusty's here in CO and the only one I ever broke was the Rubicon Express, which was the most expensive. I suggested the RC kit, because like me, he's trying to save some cash and still have fun. I'll bet money he never breaks the kit and if he installs it right and confirms the caster angles, gets an alignment after install, it'll drive just fine.

Save a little more $$ get the Tera 3 inch or 2.5 coil lift. You'll be happier in the long run.

The RC is a decent budget lift.
If you want a great ride, steer away from RC.

I purchased the RC 3.25 about 3 weeks ago and had no trouble with the install. I had an alignment done and it drives and tracks straight, BUT a word of caution it is a stiffer ride than stock. I have been told by a few people that it will soften up over time, it's not terrible but it is certainly a stiffer ride.

I understand that ride will be affected by any lift kit but this was a little rougher than i anticipated. I'm going to give if it some time and get it out on the trail and see if it softens up a bit and if it does not I may be moving on to an OME or TF kit. This is my first Jeep but not my first lift install.

Customer service was awesome and the guys at RC were great so I have no complaints in that regard.
