Default Rough Country 2.5" Budget Boot Install Notes

Just some installation notes on my BB install.

The included directions are very good, but I thought I'd expand them a bit.

Front Install: I removed the brake calipers - when trying to push down on the axle to remove/install the springs, the brake hoses are over stressed. I also unclipped the ABS sensor wires from the two clips (each) to keep them from being damaged.

Also, I had to use a bottle jack to push the axle far enough down to slip the springs back in.

Rear Install: I pulled out the plastic retainers for the wiring harness on the rear axle and the breather hose to keep them from being damaged while installing the springs.

Hope this helps someone.

Little write up I did for this install. There should be no need for a bottle jack. I would jack the axle up, when its up put spring compressors on and lower the jack. Then jack the frame up as high as possible and support it with some heavy jack stands. This will allow the axle to drop low enough.

Actually, I used spring compressors on the other side and it works well. I have a hard time recommending them as they can be super dangerous. Thanks for the link - good info you posted.

I installed their 4" kit and didn't remove the calipers or use a bottle jack. I did remove the brake line retaining clips prior to dropping the axle to prevent damaging the lines.

Same here, I think it actually tells you in the directions to remove the brake line retaining clips and that gives more then enough clearance and slack.
