Well the first of hopefully many mods was almost completed Yesterday.

After several weeks of waiting in for the RC 2.5 bb to arrive, then the right day,weather and stars to align yesterday was the day(not). I Started with the front. Jeep jacked up, tires removed, everything going smooth as butter it was time for the shocks. With wrenches in hand I put in., a little tough a first but then the nut BROKE loose, wait thats not right. I broke the whole damn shaft. After several colorfull metafores again I press on to the other side. Same damn thing I broke the shaft at the top of the shock. Now I don't know about the U.S but up here in Ontario it was a holiday yesterday so nothing was open. So I again press on( may as well break everything today and order it tomorrow). the rear went sooth as silk.
So this morning I started with the phone calls to find 2 new front shocks. The earliest I will be getting the new shocks is Thursday. So in my driveways sits my very first mod incomplete. It looks good, sure would be nice to drive it.
The kit was pretty simple to put on, my only advice to anyone else doing this as their first mod, PENATRATING OIL

I just put mine on Saturday and I had no problems here but I sure did getting the rear sway bar back on!! I finally ended up taking the arm off the sway bar and mounting it with the nut on the outside and this gave me the clearance and proper alignment!! My first mod too! Took it wheelin and it did just fine

 

They are great kits... despite what others day... I love mine. Just need to add a 3/4" spacer up front to level it again! But the extensions certainly added the nice ride back. I have a daystar 1-3/4" on there before with no shock extensions... ouch!

 

the rear axel shifted, do any of you have this problem and how did you deal with it?

 

My eyes aren't that good to even notice... besides from inside the Jeep, I can't see!

 

i put mine on two weeks ago and took it out for some hard wheeling up at Rausch Creek..the only "problem" ihad was my steering wheel is slightly off center..and i need longer sway bar links in the fornt...i flipped them upside down on some rocks...but i agree with the 3/4" spacer up front...i was dissapointed that the kit didnt level the jeep

 

After my install of the RC 2.5 BB my rear axle was about 3/4" off. I didn't notice any handling issues. But I'm anal about stuff like that so I did this:

I installed the BDS rear track bar relocation bracket. You can get the Teraflex bracket for about half the cost. This perfectly centered my rear axle. But Then the BDS bracket hit my shock at full compression so I got the Teraflex rear lower shock mount relocation bracket. This did the trick.

So about $80 in brackets; I'm centered and have no clearance issues. It probably wasn't worth it but it's done now. It's really up to you and your tolerance level for things that are less than perfect.

 

It's the action of one that create's another. Buy one Mod, and buy two more things to bring the jeep back to operation.

 

I took mine out for the first time last weekend. It really did well without disconnecting. The only thing I noticed is the lack of bumpstops. I bottomed out several times and I was going slowly. I think a longer travel, stiffer shock with bumpstops would really help. I'll probably just order the RC 2.2 shocks but would really like some Bilsteins.

I've got the RC 2.2 shocks, gonna test them this weekend at Pine Barrens...
