Which Rough Country Lift??
 

So I've decided I'm going to go with a Rough Country Lift. I only do moderate off roading so I'm not looking for a hardcore set up and lots of guys that are running Rough Country are happy with them for the cost. That said, I'm not sure which one I'd like to go with...

My original thought was to get the 3.25" setup with the 2.5" coils and .75" spacers so that if the wife and kids found it too high I could just remove the spacers.

Then I was looking at the 3.5" setup that also has the series 2 shocks and new lower control arms

Any user reviews on either of these lifts? What extra options should I be looking at with these? I'm worried about ripping that boot on the driveshaft, but was also thinking of trimming back the tranny skid if that's even possible.

After doing some more searching I'm leaning more to the 3.5 kit :thumbsup:

2 questions:
Has anybody had issues with tearing the boot on the driveshaft with this kit?

How does it look with 33's? I want 35's but gotta save my pennies for those lol.

I have the 3.5" lift and i would def choose that over the 3.25 lift as the 3.5" comes with new control arms to keep your caster angle correct. So far i've had no issues with the DS boot tearing, but then i also won't disconnect the sway bar to be safe

if you do go with that kit i suggest you get an adjustable trackbar and not use the drop pitman arm (which can cause additional stress to the sector shaft/steering pump) or the front trackbar relocation bracket

Thanks for the response and tip on the trackbar. So if using an adjustable track bar then I would leave off the pitman and trackbar bracket, but if using the stock trackbar for the time being then I would install those brackets?

Correct. If using the stock trackbar you would then want to use the drop pitman arm and the trackbar relocation bracket. If you have an adj trackbar, you wont use either one and just replace the stock trackbar with the adj one

I'm in the same boat as you man. I'm looking at the 3.25 and the 3.5 as well. I'm having a hard time finding the 3.5 lift for a 2 door though. So I may end up going 3.25.

I installed the 3.5" a few days after I got the Rubicon. The street manners are great! The ride is actually softer than the stock Rubicon setup. I wouldn't mind if the springs were just a bit stiffer. I have only had my JEEP for two weeks, so haven't been able to test it off road.
I will prob. replace the front drive shaft soon to be on the safe side.
