Default Rough Ride?

TF 3" lift with Bilstein 5100's. 35's with 26 psi.
I noted that when I go over speed bump my Corolla provides a much better ride. Is it the shocks?
Should the Jeep with 35's take such obstacles better than my go-cart commuter?

Try hitting a curb or speedbump at 30, see which does better

So true. I've been run off the road and over curbs at 45 mph by old mexican ladies and the only harm was my drink sloshed around a bit. My sons new Hyundai would have been totaled.

Sent from the fast lane while driving one handed.

Hitting a speed bump at 10 mph makes me nervous with the Jeep. No problem with the Corolla. I have the 5100's on my Tundra too and it is equally rough/firm as the jeep.

I have hydro 7000s right now and might as well have steel bars. Have a friend with some billstein resi shocks and wow what a difference. Another factor is, are you running factory CA's and your spring rate.

Corolla has independent suspension, jeep has two solid axles. Sure it has more travel, but it's basically a truck.

I have TF springs. They are rated for added gear, such as my added bumpers, winch, etc.

For a speed bump both front wheels and both back wheels hit the bump at the same time. Both vehicles also have stout sway bars up front. Wouldn't each arrangement have the same result with a straight-on bump that is hit by both wheels?

I had a Teraflex 2.5 w/Bilsteins and 35's put on yesterday. I haven't checked yet, but I am sure the shop aired up the tires pretty high. I hit some speed bumps in parking lots today, and it was no different or maybe slightly better than stock. I barely have to slow down for them.

If I was driving my car, I would have been taking those speed bumps a hell of a lot slower or else they would feel pretty rough.

I have a 4 door, maybe that makes a difference?

-Those bilsteins are known to be on the harsher side.

I just installed AEV's front control arm brackets and they make a huge difference in how shock is transmitted up into the jeep. Flatter CA's and impact is directed through the shock rather then the frame.

It's the shocks. My bilsteins have a "euro" firmness to them. The front feels like the springs and shocks are valved softer than the rear. Once I get about 300lbs in the back things smooth out and take bumps much easier.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.
