Default Royal Purple - Purple Ice additive

I bought a 16 oz. bottle of Royal Purple's
Purple Ice coolant additive yesterday.
($14..99)

It's supposed to drop the coolant temp.
by 15-30 degrees.

I haven't seen any drop in the temp guage
yet?

Any comments or experience with this stuff?

Have I been snake oiled?

its works OK.. I used it on my Willys with the Chevy 350.

Water Wetter works better than the Royal Purple in my small block.

My dad also uses water wetter it in his 66 fairlane with a 521. He's didnt have luck with the royal purple either

just my idea.....no matter how efficient the heat transfer to the coolant is the temperature will be whatever your thermostat dictates....assuming the radiator has the capacity to transfer the heat out of the coolant.
Kinda like a rev limiter no matter how much hp you make if you can only rev to 4000 rpms that all you will be able to do . so the thermostat will always keep the coolant temp at whatever its setting is.

If it did work you would be even more disapointed. Your thermostat is a 210* thermostat, and that is what the computer wants to see to run correctly.

EDIT Sorry, I meant 210 not 110. Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks for the explanations.

I put a friction reduction oil additive in my
89 YJ years ago and saw an immediate, and
what turned out to be permanent, drop
in my max operating temp. (can't remember
the thermostat temp, a lot higher than 110)

I thought the purple ice might do the same
but maybe it's still beneficial even though
the operating temp remains constant at 110?

The only time i can see it helping is if you reach temps above 110 and the cooling system is unable to get it back down...but if this is happening then you have other problems...

110 degrees is way off, it's probably more around 195. Vehicles usually operate in the 180-210 range.
