Default RR Mirror Brackets messed up my Paint!

FYI ...

I only had my Rugged Ridge relo brackets on for a few weeks. I decided to move the Mirrors back to the doors today. When I removed the RR brackets from the lower windshield bracket I noticed the Clear Coat is actually wrinkled on both sides now - almost like the rubber backing has some sort of solvent in it. I took some polish too them but the wrinkled paint remains. I'll see how the look after the brackets are off for a few days.

Same here. This is my second year running them. I run them in the summer and take them off in the fall. I just clean the paint surface before I put them on and have been really impressed that they don't mess the paint up at all.

Well ... I did buy the brackets slightly used - but I see no signs of any type of solvent or anything on the rubber backing. I'll see if I can get a picture of the paint wrinkles ...

Was the Jeep repainted recently? Maybe the clear coat was still a little soft from not being fully cured?? Just a guess.
