the sway bar is only disconnected when the light is solid. in order to disconnect it you need to be on level ground. the light will flash, you may hear a click and then the light will become solid. you can only drive under 15 mp or something like that with the sway bar disconnected. if you exceed this speed it will start to flash and reconnect as soon as you are on level ground again .

for more info check your manual.

What do you mean by "When I'm driving"?

It won't disconnect in 2wd, or above 18 mph in 4wd high and low.

Once disconnected, sometimes it takes a while to reconnect. The sway bar halves must be lined up for it to connect. It's all in the owner's manual. You can download one from the Jeep web site if you don't have one.

It sounds like you are doing everything correctly. You just are not driving it in a place that you can feel it. It makes a big difference in the rocks or on choppy roads. If there is an articulation ramp that you can use, you should try it attached and un-attached. You will see a difference.

ok so i have to be on level ground, under 15mph and in 4hi or low. ok ill try it out. is it only helpful for rocks? what other scenarios would disconnecting the sway bars be good? my jeep was still flexing GOOD without disconnecting them. front wheel was almost off the ground and the back wheel was completly tucked in as far as it would go.

If you get it flexed up too much and it is not disconnected you may break the small tab(s) off the front axle housing. You want to use it when you are going over rocks.....the idea is to have all the tires on the ground.
