Rubicon Gears in an X
Just wondering, Can the 4.10 gears from a 08 Rubicon be swapped into an 09 X with 44 rear and 30 up front with 3.73's without a new carrier?
Also, can 4.56 gears be put into the X without a new carrier?

Only the D30's with 3.21's need a new carrier.
X/Sahara gears are different than Rubi gears, and no, you can not run any D44 gears in a D30.
X/Sahara axles also have different spline counts than Rubi axles, good to know when looking at lockers/lsd's.
Non-Rubi
30 front 27 spline
44 rear 30 spline
Rubi
44 front 30 spline
44 rear 32 spline

If I'm not mistaken, the JK D44 gearsets are the same, whether or not they are Rubi. The carriers are different since the spline count are different.
BTW, since you're tearing into the axles for a gear change, you might as well change the carriers to lockable types.

4.10's from a Rubicon D44/D44 'into' an X D30/D44
But as you pointed out, if he could find 4.10's from a non-rubicon, yes he could. But then we get into the whole 'why would you spend $1500 to go up a single gear size...'

I am 99% sure the rear gears are different too. 100% sure the front wont work. You could buy a set cheap from someone who had 4.10s stock in a X like toad and I did. I gave mine to a friend. I have seen them sell for $150.
What size tires do you have? If you have anything larger than 33s, you should consider 4.88s or 5.13s IMO. If you currently have 3.73s you wont need a new carier, if you have the 3.21s then you need a carrier.

Thanks for the info. I guess I didn't clarify my questions very well. First I wanted to know if I need new carriers to go from 3.73's to 4.10's or 4.56's. Second I was wondering if the gears out of Rubicon 44 would go in an X 44. I think I mis typed about the 44 into a 30, I actually didn't mean that cause I already know that. Sorry for the confusion, my bad. Good comments though.
