I went with the X myself... mainly budget reasons. The monthly payment for a Rubicon was WAY too much for me to swallow. If you can swing it, then why not.

However, that said... at the end of the day they are all great Jeeps. And, it will also depend on how much you decide to modify your vehicle. A lot of Rubi guys (as well as X/Sport/Sahara guys) are ditching their front axles for even better PR-44 (or sometimes 60s)... they are ditching their factory e-locker for ARBs... they are tossing the electronic sway bar because they fried it.... They are ditching the T-case for an Atlas...

I say all that to say... depending on how much of it your throw out, at the end of the day you might have just bought yourself one mighty expensive Rubicon sticker
I know I've been trying to buy 44 for the last year but they sell fast.

If you do the average wheeling an X or Sahara will do you fine but I"ll also say I bent my D30 running stock cuz I am running open diffs so sometimes the skinny pedal comes into play a little more. If you dont plan on doing anything too crazy or going to big on tires I'd vote the Rubi, but if your gonna end up going crazy on upgrades anyways I'll agree with everyone who's said to buy an X and use the money saved to drop into axles, gears and lockers, and whatever else you want. And to go waaayyy back to the little dispute about the stock shocks, if you just run a spacer lift you do need longer shocks or a shock extension and that argument seemed like there was a misunderstanding between two people.

FYI I bought a sahara thinking I wouldnt need a rubicon. Six months later I traded mine in for a rubi and I'm happy I did.
I have flat fenders, 2.5 unlimited coil on my 2dr which netted me more height than standard 2.5, And had to cut pinch seams!! People on here need to state all the facts!!
2.5 coil with lower arms, flat fenders will clear 35's!!

Oh my god, cutting pinch seams is such a big deal!!!
You also can run 35's with a stock Rubicon and flat fenders. There's a few people here doing it.

Yup they sure are. I ran it for five months. There is some rubbing but nothing extended bump stops wouldn't take care of. But you don't need a 2.5" lift to run them. If you not off roading I say get a teraflex leveling kit and run 35's.

Maybe you need to research more before you open your mouth? Lots of guys are running flat fenders with 35's. You don't need to add the 2.5" lift.

Go rubi if you can swing it... But if you are going to tear it apart and throw gobs of money at it get a stock X and go from there
If you get rubi with half doors I'll be envious!!

After TTL my rubi was right at about 30k (2010 model). Find a small dealer and talk to the owner to see if you can order it at 'cost' (dealer invoice). The owner will still get paid because of dealer hold back and if you order it he will feel better because it isn't a liability sitting on the lot.

Well it's what I found on my 2010 Rubicon, my cousins 2011 Rubicon, and my girlfriends 2009 unlimited! I'm not just making up bullcrap. People like to know all the information not just some of it. Growup!! Cutting pinch seams is not a big deal but to some people it is. I have a lot of customers that freak out when I mention it. I give them all options not what I think they should do.

Cutting 1/2" of sheet metal is a big deal? Hell, you don't even have to cut it, you can bend the damn things back.
Your customers should just go buy a Hummer.

I know, you should hear some of my goldwing whiners. They complain of the fuel injectors are clicking and are noisy!
