Default Rubicon suspension installed on X

I now have a Rubicon suspension on my X. The suspension came from a hard top rubi with the towing package.

Long story short... The front of the jeep remained the same at 16 1/8 inches behind the front tire at the frame rail. The back of the jeep grew almost 1/2 inch to 18 inches at the frame rail in front of the rear tire.

The shocks were stiffer from the rubi, but the rubi's front coil springs had the exact same part number as the ones on the x. The rear springs from the rubi had different part numbers (the last digit was an 8 instead of a 6) and were stiffer. The part numbers were on the tags attached to both sets of springs. I was hoping to get about an inch lift, but...

It seems all the hype about rubicon suspensions being so much better than the others is all hype. I can't help but wonder if the rear would have been the same if it had not come from a towing package rubi.

Now I really need some front leveling spacers.

There is no hype. Every time this comes up, the reply is always the same. You do not get any lift with rubicon suspension. It is all the same.

Default Rubi Springs

I installed Rubi springs on my 2 door X and could not be happier. The height of my Jeep improved approximately 1 1/2 inches front and rear. The only way that you will get the improvement is if the new springs are different from what you have on your Jeep originally. I find that the ride is not stiffer as many have stated but find that it is much more solid feeling. I found the $100 I spent to be a great investment. Just my opinion.Click image for larger version

I stuck a set of 18/59 rubi coils and shocks on my Jeep. My old springs were 14/55. I gained an inch in the rear and about 3" in front while fixing my rake.

You have to go by the spring numbers,I run the Rubicon springs and shock and it did indeed add lift to my front, in-fact the Rubicon front spring was about 1 1/2" taller than the stock spring. However the rear stayed the same, but the ride does feel more solid.

There is a thread about the spring's on the JK. There is nothing special about the Unlimited Rubi spring's. It is all about how the Unlimited came from the factroy , an Unlimited X or Sport that came from the factory with Hard Top , Auto Trans and Tow package can have stiffer spring's than a Unlimited Rubi that came from the factory with 6 speed, Soft Top, and no Tow Package. The only thing Unlimited Rubi has that a Unlimited X or Sport do not have is the Red shock's, which are stiffer than the stock JK shock's.

My 09 Unlimited X with Tow Package an Soft Top, had 17 front an 58 rear when it came from the factory.

If the spring numbers are the same, there will be no lift and no ride or handling difference. If the spring numbers are several digits different (like 18 fronts instead of 13 fronts) then there will be some lift and a big difference in ride and handling.

Rubicon shocks are different and much better than stock X/Sport shocks.

This has been hashed out a hundred times. If the part numbers are the same of course you aren't going to get any lift. I went from 14/55 to 18/59 that I got off a unlimited with hard top. I got an inch on my 2 door x. Shocks do not provide lift but will give a better ride. You née to check the numbers on the tags.
