This units fits Jeeps 2003 to 2009 with the 42RLE automatic overdrive
This new reduction unit replaces the stock 42RLE tailhousing with a 6 gear planetary reduction box featuring a 2.72 low range. This is a true bolt-in doubler that couples to the stock Jeep transfer case or an existing Atlas transfer case.
Features: The RubiCrawler increases our available gear ratios allowing you to gear your Jeep to the terrain in which you’re wheeling on. the gear ratio would be nice for the sand but it would have to be a great deal cause i am not much on sand. i would reather have a atlas and be able to front dig. i would give 500 for one right now but if not i would wait and go atlas.

it replaces the tail-housing on the automatic with a selectable gear reduction unit.
So on a Rubicon you could be in:
regular hi range OR
transfer case low range (4:1) OR
rubicrawler low range (2.72:1) OR
BOTH transfer low and rubicrawler low (10.88:1)
if works with all JK automatic transmissions, does not work with any manual transmissions
So on a Rubicon you could be in:
regular hi range OR
transfer case low range (4:1) OR
rubicrawler low range (2.72:1) OR
BOTH transfer low and rubicrawler low (10.88:1)
if works with all JK automatic transmissions, does not work with any manual transmissions

I just put one in my Rubicon.
My main reason was to have the higher low range for cruising the trails in 2wd and still disconnect my electric swaybar. I have occasionally attacked the sand dunes in Johnson valley and high range was no good and the Rubicon 4:1 low was to low. The rubicrawler low was just right.
Also was crawling up some rocky ravines in Johnson valley and the low low range was awesome. Gave me incredible low speed smooth control going up and over the low falls and boulder piles. Huge improvement in my typical lurching style, (autotrans).
I was expecting much out of the low low range but I am highly pleased with it.

I like the idea of this thing, but all of the stock t-cases blowing up on the freeways has me thinking that paying a few hundred more for an Atlas would be a much better use of the money.
