Default Rugged Ridge Side steps on 08?

I asked on another forum and was assured the 07 and 08 were the same as far as side steps go, however I received Rugged Ridge side steps for my 08 2-door JK and the holes don't match up. Either that or I am doing it incorrectly, which is very likely. :P

The instructions state that there are two mounting holes for the front brackets and one for the rear, but on the 08 it appears that there are 2 for both the front and rear so the rear brackets have nowhere to go. Will I be safe just drilling in an additional hole to get these on?

Be gentle, I'm mechanically illiterate!

Do you have the right step on the right side and the left step on the left side?

Yup, I tried both 'rear' brackets on both sides, none of which fit. Looks like we'll have to drill either way as my front mounting holes have some overlapping sheet metal that makes the holes too small for the bolt. Hubby seems to think it may be doable, but it's odd that they don't fit at all - DID they change from 07 to 08?

When matched up with the 'inner' bolt, there are two holes on the outer portion of the frame which match with the brackets marked front. The brackets marked for the rear have only one hole, smack dab in the middle - the actual hole arrangement in the rear matches that of the front.

Well turns out even the inner holes do not line up correctly. After much cursing and gnashing of teeth, my hubby said 'no way will these fit'. I checked quadratec's site and it says 07-08 for these steps. I've written them to see if they will help and send me the correct brackets (they are a sponsor here, yes? ). Anyone else try these?

Just an update. Was contacted by Rugged ridge who confirmed the brackets do not fit a 2008/2dr due to a running change by Jeep. They suggested to drill an extra hole. I put the brackets on as a test (without drilling) and the side step itself does not fit on the mounting brackets because they are now too close together. RR has been very responsive and says they have confirmed the problem and are working on it.
Just a heads up that until/unless they come up with a fix, these steps do not fit a 2008 two door JK. :(

Does anyone have an update on this? I don't want to order the sidesteps if they don't fit. Also I heard there were some concerns with the quality, tex coat flaking off and rust spots on the satin black. My old man lives in Chicago where road salt will be an issue. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Rugged rudge after a few trial and error sessions says that they got it working, but they had to issue new instructions for '08's, which need to be mounted using different holes and it will be a very tight fit so they recommend two people. I still have my side steps sitting in my living room, haven't had a chance to try the install as I need to wait for the other half to be free to help with the installation..

I just ordered a set of these for my 4 door Jeep i read the instruction on QUadratec sight and thought it sounded Screwy. Same issue with the 4 door you dont have the last hole. Hopefully mine will come with the Right Instructions.

I am going to try it this weekend with the new instructions. They DID manage to put them on an '08 so hopefully I can get it working. Not sure if there's the same problem with the 4-door.
