Default Rugged Ridge Synthetic Air Filter

Anyone have any experience using it? I'm debating between this and a K&N. I like that I don't have to oil it, but I can't find any info on it as to how many miles you go before cleaning it, how many miles does it last?

Also, anyone use an AFE filter? Same questions the rugged ridge one. http://www.quadratec.com/products/17102_1002.htm

I have the rugged ridge filter. I clean it every oil change. I figure that's when they replace the disposable filters. I got it because I don't have to oil it. I don't like the idea of having oils and liquids in my intake system.

Oil is one of the reasons i'm looking for something other then a K&N. I heard that the oiled ones get plugged up quickly in dusty environments. Does it get dirty and plugged pretty quick? How do you like it compared to the paper filters?

I can't speak too much to really dusty enviornments. I can say that I've never had any issues with it. Its never been too clogged up as far as i could see. I hear some people talk about HP gains and other performance improvements. I couldn't feel anything different. I prefer anything reusable to disposable. I guess its my inner tree hugger. Sorry I don't have anything technical to contribute on the subject.

Your input on it still helps. Looks like i'll be getting one by my next oil change. Paper filters make me feel like i'm throwing away money lol

I have the AFE dry filter and can say its like having the best of both worlds. Its like having a CAI and utilizes the stock snorkel.
