Default rugged ridge winch

So im not gonna get an aftermarket bumper. Im gonna mod the stocker for a winch. Im lookin at the rugged ridge 8500lbs winch with synthetic rope.

Any feedback? And noob question. Are all win hes water proof?

You might want to check out the recon 10k, I think it's water resistant too.
I will be getting a winch soon, haven't decided on brand yet.

What about the Engo winches that are for sale in the sale section for pretty cheap? Are they water submersible? I talked to someone yesterday that knew someone with one and said it was a pretty good winch for the cheap price. Had saved his buddy many times and he had seen it in action. Said he was def. getting one for the price.

Yea. The recon 10k is on amazon for less then 5. So yeah. Im stuck between the 2

I have a Smitty 8k. I just used it for the first time last wknd. I pulled the trailboss out of a big mud hole 2ft deep. It didn't flinch and the trailboss had a big sprung-over cj7 with 44" swampers. Very heavy!! Can't beat that for $300.

Nice. Ive geard 8k is minimum though. Im gonna be on stock suspension for a good while. figure I might get stuck more often then non jus because of my height. Synthetic rope is appealing too with that recon
