Default Rust Proofing Holes From Mod

I am newbie here.

What do you guys do to rust proof holes from mods on sheet metal/body?

I would appreciate your input very much.

EVERY bracket, aftermarket piece, plate, etc. and all penetrations made by a drill, or the like, get coated in POR15. I stand by POR15. Been using it for quite some time now, still looks freshly gray like the day I coated it.

Sooner or later, I'm going to try and coat every inch I can get to, including the tub, inside and out.

I second the POR15 recommendation, great stuff.

I shoot some silicone caulk into the holes too to seal them against the weather better too, and screw into that....but the POR 15 goes on the metal parts first.

Thank you very much for the information. I will check into POR15.

The Silicone caulk seems like a great idea also. I will try that when work on my first mod.

x2, but the one thing you gotta keep in mind with POR15 is that ultra violet light will break it down. You have to paint over it.

Indeed.

All the parts that underneath, I don't coat.

But, all parts that are subject to the sun, I use their Blackote over the POR15.

Where do you find this stuff? I checked the auto parts stores and came up empty.
I did find them online though, but like to buy localy if possible.

You can google their name and buy directly from their site. Looks pretty easy to use.

Do you guys just rough up the area / metal with sandpaper if its a spot that isn't really rusting but say powdercoat has chipped off or its a chaffed area?
