Default Rusty's 3.5" vs. FT 3"??

While waiting on my Rubi to come in, I want to have everything ready by the time it gets here. I already have wheels and tires, but am hung up on which lift to get. I know there are mixed feelings about Rusty's kit, I personally have never talked to anyone who has had problems, but I have read about them. The FT seems to be a popular choice on here, more so than Rusty's.
The Rusty's kit looks like it has new track bars, springs, and shocks for 550.
The FT econo, appears to have springs, shocks, track bar brackets, and ext. sway bar links. I am curious why the Rusty's kit does not have sway bar links??
I will be running 36" Iroks, I know they might be a bit tight, but I already have them from my Dodge, and they have about 3/4 tread, I went w/38 Nitto's. Once they are done, I will buy some 35's.
Anyhow, what do you guys think?? BTW, I am not interested in spending anymore than what these two kits cost, and I'm not really interested in any other kits!! Let me know, thanks!!

I have neither.

Rusty's has adjustable track bars. Better than TB brackets. FT brackets are frame mounted which is better than axle mounted, but not as good as adjustable TBs.

You will want extended SB links. I believe you can find them for about $30 a set.

I have yet to hear from anyone with either kit to be unhappy.

Thanks for the technically helpful incite!! In this scenario, the FT is cheaper than the Rusty's, like mentioned in my first post, that is my budget. I'm not dropping 1200 for a lift kit, i don't need it!!

I didnt notice you named a price on the Fulltraction, I assumed it was more..

I have yet to hear problems with the Rustys on the JK's. But they havent had them on very long either.
But I have heard alot of compaints on the TJs for saggy springs after time.

I have the rusty's and have no problems with it. as prev mentioned, sway bar disconnects/extension are the only change I will be doing, but the track bars are huge and let you dial it right in. this is my first time using a rusty lift and it gets high marks, I have used bds, re, teraflex and full traction on previous projects, it all comes down to what you get with the kit and what your pocket can afford.

Another thing to consider is that the FT has seperate kits for 2/4 door (four door needs heavier springs). I dont think Rusty's has this - chime in if you know different.

If you are not in a hurry, it is probably worth seeing what OME comes out with.

This post will confuse the crap out of ya.

I have had bad luck in the past with a rustys product. I got their engine skid and it would hit my front Diff and pinion yoke while flexing.....I had to cut out a 1" section to make it fit without hitting. They told me to loosen the bolts and move it over to the passenger side as far as possible.....It already was. And the main bracket for it rattled on the exhaust....they told me to loosen the exhaust and move it over and retighten...lasted about 1 day and was rattling again.

That being said, I have owned 2 FT kits and installed 3....Great products! I am currently running their TJ LA kit with their engine skid and exhaust and it all fits like a glove. However their springs sag uneven...on a TJ

With the introduction of JK's these companys seem to be trying to recover R&D costs as fast as possible through ripping off you guys....I think they are both over priced.

The rustys looks like a better deal to me.

I would personally wait and see if Rubicon Express comes out with a 3.5 budget kit.

i had a 99 XJ with a rusty's 6.5 inch shortarm lift, i wouldnt choose any other company than rusty's. the control arms and trac bars are absolutely MASSIVE. no matter how much i jumped, twisted or rolled my rig, i never broke any of the lift components. my only comlaint about rusty lifts is the fairly harsh ride.

^My brother has a Cherokee Limited with, I think, a 3" Rusty's lift, the componets that came with it are massive, like you say. Very well constructed! His Jeep rides really well though, and after 2 years and 40k miles, no sag.
I think I will go w/Rusty's, and later upgrade with some ext. sway bar links. It will be cheaper to buy new links for the Rusty's kit, than to have to buy new shocks for the FT econo lift. Plus I like the componets better in the Rusty's kit! Thanks for the help guys, if anyone else has any opinions, let me know!! Thanks!!
