Sahara Side step mod?

Sahara Side step mod?
I bought my jeep saturday and it has a cracked sidestep but it was only on the front part of the step and it didnt continue into the actual step cut out part. It ends right around the first mount. Has anyone tried cutting the sidesteps down to make them shorter? I would love to keep them on there but not if they are cracked so looking for a mod.

My brother in law tried to use a tree stump to cut his side steps down.
It did't work. He now runs a set of Rubi sliders that were take offs from my Rubi when I put on the LOD sliders.
Guess I should say is that if you ever plan on wheeling your Jeep....the Sahara side steps don;t take much abuse before breaking. But hopefully someone will have an easy mod for you to try in the meantime. Good luck!
