Default Sahara Side step mod?

I bought my jeep saturday and it has a cracked sidestep but it was only on the front part of the step and it didnt continue into the actual step cut out part. It ends right around the first mount. Has anyone tried cutting the sidesteps down to make them shorter? I would love to keep them on there but not if they are cracked so looking for a mod.

Guess I should say is that if you ever plan on wheeling your Jeep....the Sahara side steps don;t take much abuse before breaking. But hopefully someone will have an easy mod for you to try in the meantime. Good luck!
mine isnt quite that bad just a crack in the front part. I plan on getting rock rails in the future but until then id like to have something on

can you put a torch on it and try to heat it up and seal itself? Just a thought.

I am removing my Sahara steps this next Tuesday to put on Shrockworks rails. Seeing those pics of your busted steps makes it easier to pay the $$$ for good rails.
