Default Saw a JK with 35's....wow

I was at Lowes last night doing some shopping and when I left to head to my car I spotted a black JK sahara that was just stunning. I was speaking with the guy who owned her to try and get some info on his setup but he had absolutely no idea. Told me he bought her and sent her right to an off-road shop to have the lift and tires put on. Wasn't much help but anyway...

This thing looked incredible! It was the first time I saw a JK with 35's up close and got me REALLY thinking about saving money to get this done. I'm wondering the following and perhaps you guys can share your thoughts...

1. How much should I expect to pay to have my JK lifted and 35's put on....I know exact $$ is tough to gauge but how about a ballpark? Im talking lift, regear, tires and rims.

2. Very important....my JK is my daily driver and sadly, Im wondering if going 35's would be a bad choice. I drive about 50 miles a day. What gas mileage am I looking at?

Thanks for any thoughts on this. I cannot stop thinking about it! My wife just shakes her head and tells me "you have an unhealthy obsession with your car." I then tell her "How dare you....it's not a car...it's a JEEP."

You could do a budget boost 2" lift and fit some nice 35''s under there.
Idk how much the budget boost runs but tires could range anywhere, depends on what you like, rims just go 16's or 15's to keep the cost down.....Regear would be the most expensive thing but you could survive on stock gears for a while until you save up another lump of money to do the gears...

I would say you could get the lift and tires and all for 2000......I'm thinking if you get some good deals and such....

The gears would cost around 1200 with everything said and done.

I have 35s on my JK and I didn't regear. with the 4.10s it's OK but I'm going with 5.13s next month. I don't have real numbers but according to the gauge that isn't right most of the time I could get 20 highway before the lift and tires and now I get around 18. I drive highway to and from work 60 miles round trip in south Jersey where there are no hills and when I'm not on the highway I drive like a old lady. hopfully the 5.13s will put some pep in it and I still keep the mpg around 15 or so and use the cruise on my way to Rausch Creek again.

Here's a break down of my 2 door X build up. Lift, wheels, tires and regearing were bought at OK4WD in Stewartsville, NJ.

BDS 3" lift with upgraded gas shocks - $985 - I installed the lift, so no labor there.
5 AEV Pintler wheels - $199 each - $995 total
5 315/70/17 BFG AT KO - $280 each - $1400 total

$3380 total - add in tax and an alignment and the Grand Total was just over $3800.

Just had her regeared, that set me back just under $2K installed. Before the regearing I was getting 14 mpg - after (just got them in last week) I'm getting 17 around town - haven't done any highway miles yet.

$129 for the AEV procal to recal the computer for the gears and tire size.

Ordered the EVO gussets from Northridge 4x4 to reinforce the front axle - $110.

Total for the lift, wheels, tires, gearing, gussets and AEV Pro Cal - just over $6K

The front DS will go first based on the angle that the 3" lift puts on it, so when it goes, I'm going with a Tom Woods 1310 - add in another $450.

I don't have any before pictures, but $6K later, she looks like this:

Of course, that was before the bumper, winch and Rubi rails (and another $1200). Welcome to the wonderful world of mod addiction.

Thanks! Obviously Ive got a lot of choices. Appears the ballpark is around $4k without regearing. May go this route and do the gears afterwards. I like the stance of 3 inch lifts with the 35's. Hope to join the 35 club before summer.

Great that you have begun your journey... Just don't become that guy who knows nothing about his fully built-up Jeep, even if you don't end up spinning the wrenches yourself.

Just bought my used 4" Skyjacker lift for $750 w/shocks
4 Wheel spacers are $200
Seen used 35's on here for anywhere from $600 to $1000 (thats for 5) with 80% tread or better.

So that keeps you under 2000 easy. If you alreay have 4.10's they will get you by just fine till you save up for 4.88's. (don't spend $2000 for those by the way) $800 for gears and maybe $400 to have them put in if you can't do it yourself

Really just depends on how hard you look for good deals and what you will be happy with.

Good luck with your new mod frenzy and keep us posted as you get it done.
