Default Section width

What matters more for a tire - section width or tread type?

Despite what you have been told, size matters and so does the tread. Just depends on what you are trying to accomplish with them.

Oop - sorry about not being clear on that - I'm trying to figure out which has more affect on grip of the tire - its rolling resistance. For instance, if I were to change the tire tread, but maintain the section width, would I improve my mileage more than if I changed the section width of the tire and kept the tread pattern...
