Default Seeking Stiffer Springs

This may not be the correct avenue for asking my question?

I am probably one of the very few whom appreciate the factory suspension as is... But? After installing a Warn 9500 winch, coupled with the mounting bracket, the thing is nose heavy and cannot even handle a minor divit on a mild desert dirt road without hitting its bump stops.

I am mostly an Overlanding type, rarely will I venture off into the knarly stuff as I am usually alone, so I am cautious.

What do you think of replacing my factory 2 dr coils with factory 4 dr coils? As I believe the four dr jeep is 500? 1000lbs heavier? I wonder if my factory shocks would be okay to run? I am not much of a desert speed nut and doubt I've ever exceed there capability.

I am mainly worried about spending the bucks, only to pay for a very rough ride.

Thoughts?

That's what I did + 1inch Tera pucks in the front. Squirrely ride but it gave 1 in rear and 2 in front. Been riding like that for 8 months and just ordered RK 2.5 flex from RCO.

Make sure you trade with a 4 door jeep rubicon hardtop with the tow package. All jeeps come with different rate springs. Some 4 door springs arent as stiff as other 4 doors.

And yes your shocks will work. Why not just order some coils from rough country. Only a 2.5" lift and its a very low price. Also you dont need other compenents to run this lift besides shocks.

Or you can just throw some coil spacers on your current coils. The ride quality is the same as getting stiffer springs.

Yes you can as stated. It also depends what number springs you have now. Some members on here have replaced their front 2dr's with 4dr's due to heavy bumper and winch. I replaced my 14/55 with 18/59's plus Rubi shocks and love the results. Gained some lift as well @ 1.5"-1.75" in front also running Rubi takeoffs. I like the fact they are heavier or stiffer springs to handle more weight such as cargo. It would be a very inexpensive mod and springs and shocks would set you back @ $100-$200. Members are selling them on here all the time. I believe Planman changed out his fronts for that reason.

Many thanks guys for your responses! I've been ripped twice in past years over this very same topic. Back then, back country explorers did not have such an avenue to share informations. Neither were we that organized as today world.

Jeeps, Guns, steaks, lots of booze and cheap ass tents as no one really wanted to pay much for anything like that. (Advantages of Youth and very limited funds)

I am running a 2012 2 dr (I'm a strong traditionalist) MW3 with hardtop. I refer to the thang as my Rolls-Roach of the countryside... Electric WINDOWS! HEATED SEATS! gadgets that tell me I'm an old slob... Shuts yoh door dumbass! Forget my poor math skillz! Why I gots me ah genuine CoMpUtEr that tells me at ah glance-Yup! Stop with the punching it-yoh milage sucks boy! That? And I ain't never had so much horsey power in my whole life! That is if it don't blow ah valve and overheat LOL I'm not really that bad on it. Old guy gettin frisky ever now and then.

I forgot to add, I occasionally tote a custom jeep trailer behind loaded with state and federally unapproved material such as extra gas, red meat, and those arsenals of MASS destruction so talked about on CNN. How much longer we'll be able to chance that will depend on lots of things I suppose.

So? It sounds as if I need to look into a newer 4 dr hardtop rubi, wonder if the 2013 special Moab edition comes in four door? I'll have to check, I do not know?

Thank you all so much, I'm on a roll now!

Found my answer! I must look into the 2013 special Moab edition as it is equipped with exactly the same front and rear bumpers, tires and wheels, one inch or so lift would make me a very happy camper indeed!

I think it would look sharp too!

One of the biggest reasons I wish to remain near stock is I wish to add a windshield frame light bar. I plan in the future installing my HAM antenna and possibly a CB antenna, but seriously, I'm not excited about the CB as much. I wish to get my antenna above my rig and not dealing with all the Interference the other locations present. And I could care less about hitting a tree with an aerial.

Another reason of course is to be able to garage my modern horse in her stable as many wish they could abscond my jeep on my side of town...
