Default Setup for mounting gear to the rear floor

So I came up with this system last year, I used it on a bunch of jamborees and other trail rides and it worked out well

Screwed to the wood are these neat aluminum strips that are totally adjustable quite quickly

The only change that I think I need to make is retention devices...

I've been using pretty much all atv straps, they function but it's a time suck when you need to get to gear quickly

So I'm looking for suggestions?

Matthew

Would bungee cords be a viable solution? they would strapped down the same way but a quick tug at the ends would allow you to release them to get to your gear, as opposed to ratchet straps that require you to completely open the ratchet to allow it to release the strap.

I don't know. Just a thought. I use ratchet straps for my heavy stuff, and bungees for lighter items that I want quick access to.

Yeah I have bungees but they never seem to be the right size when you need them

I'm 3/4 interested in being really organized and 1/4 concerned about objects becoming projectiles...

Only maybe 1/4 of my stuff do I need quick access to, other stuff like my backup parts, fluids for the Jeep and other fixing things are in hard cases and atv strapped down

Just checking if anyone had found anything more flexible/adjustable but a bit stronger than bungees

The track system I've got is super easy to reconfigure, it's the same tech as airplane seats...

I have some small stuff I don't use often, like an 14" 6 pound sledge hammer, dozens of uses, but it needs to be locked down in a tool bag with lots of other hand tools

Maybe I just need to get more accustomed to ATV straps

Anyone have a clever way to strap down a 5 gallon bucket?

for a project I was doing a while back for work I ordered a bunch of nylon strap and then you can get plastic buckles to put on the strapping. You can buy a hundred feet of the nylon strap for pretty cheap.

why go to the extra trouble of having the piece of wood, why not just screw that track into the back of the jeep?

Very nice. I was planning on doing a carpeted version of this so my pup can ride in the back again without sliding everywhere (monstaliner is pretty slick)

Like the Thule and Yeti straps?

I've never seen them in bulk, just long ones in pairs

Do you have the company info?

It's basically just bulk 1" nylon strap (like the ratchet straps are made of) then you can buy ends to put on it. There are plastic buckles of various different designs. I'll see if I still have any links from where I bought the stuff. Hell I think I still have a pretty good sized roll of the stuff because we wound up not using it.

Here you go just about anything you could ask for to make your own strapping solutions.
