I haven't done this. But with that said I think I would put cover it with resin then sand smooth. Then you could put in a design into it befor bedlining. As with most of your other mods it would be very custom looking and a little bit stronger.

I know a lot of guys have done this, and I was wondering what they did with their trunk lid. I have one can of liner left, so I can spray it to match, but it's still carpeted.
My thoughts so far are:
a. Get some clippers and shave the lid.
Or
b. Apply fiberglass resin to the carpet, then sand it down once it dries.
Or
c. Take a grinder or wire cup brush to it and try to remove the carpet.

What have you guys done?
Did you ever figure any thing out? This may be a problem for me in the coming future. Thanks.

when i bed line my tub, i plan on leaving the trunk lid as is. That little patch of carpet keeps my skateboard from flying all over the cab

I used a grinder on mine but you have to have a very light tough or it will gum up from the heat. I didnt take it right down but just enough to take most of the fluff off. Raptor lined over top and it turn out great.

There was a Write-up thread, I think the topic was tub bedlining, where the poster just burned off the fuzz with a torch.
